

In AS you will study the changing nature of the family and households in society. This will include examining the roles it carries out, how it is changing and the impact that this is having upon contemporary society.
Secondly at AS you will study education, what roles it fulfils, who benefits from it and if it provides equal opportunity for everyone to achieve or not. Alongside education you will study the methods sociologists use to investigate the world around us using case studies taken from the study of education.
At A2 you will study Power and Politics which focuses upon the distribution of power in society, who has
it, how they use it and the changing ways people get involved in making political decisions.
Secondly you will analyse Crime and Deviance, what they are, who commits crime, the reasons why people commit crime and how it can be reduced. Alongside this you will focus upon the different theories and methods in sociology and analyse their relationship with the study of crime and deviance.
