Course content
As you know, you can study Psychology for one year and obtain an AS qualification at the end of that year. Alternatively you can continue with a further year of study to obtain a full A level. There are 4 modules, the first two taken for AS, the full 4 taken for A level.
Module 1 - Cognitive and Developmental Psychology
This module investigates:
- Memory and Eye Witness Testimony
- Early Childhood and Day Care
- Research Methods
Module 2 - Physiological Psychology and Individual Differences
This module investigates:
- Stress - and stress management
- Social Influence
- Psychopathology/Abnormality
Module 3 - Topics in Psychology
This module requires the study of 3 of the following investigations:
- Relationships - including attraction and romantic love
- Aggression - media influences on anti-social behaviour
- Biological Rhythms and Theories of sleep and dreaming
- Eating behaviour
- Gender
- Intelligence and Learning
- Cognition and Development
- Perception
Module 4 - Combination Paper
This module investigates:
- Psychopathology -schizophrenia, depression and anxiety disorders
- Psychology in Action -Psychology of Addictive Behaviour, Media psychology and Anomalistic Psychology Research methods
