Introduction

Board: AQA

If you want to broaden your horizons and are fascinated by foreign countries, cultures and communication, then German is for you. During the course you will discover German as a leading language of science, literature, philosophy, history, music, film and art.

A higher level qualification in a language is an enormous and rare asset for job and university applications of any discipline. If you are able to speak a foreign language you are likely to earn 5% or more than a Graduate who cannot. It is also great fun and offers plenty of challenge.

You will be taught in small, friendly and supportive groups and have the opportunity to explore more intellectually challenging topics such as the rights of young people, the perceptions of marriage in society as well as the role of the media today. You will meet with the foreign language assistant weekly to discuss the different topic areas and will be expected to engage in one hour of independent study in the library using authentic materials such as magazines, TV, radio and films.

Both the AS/A2 trip to Berlin and German exchange offer you the chance to bring the German language, culture and society to life.
