Assessment

You will explore each area of the course practically and be expected to do background research into the social, historical and cultural context. There is one written paper at A2 based on Shakespeare and a set text from a different time period. There are two practical performance exams, one based on a directed production and the other adapted and/or devised. EdExcel Drama and Theatre Studies is unique in the fact that it is 70% practical and research coursework and is ultimately student centred in its ethos.

In this subject the teachers choose the plays at AS but at A2 you are more in control. You decide on your group projects, you decide about what motivates a character, and you decide how to you bring your ideas to life.
